Flora Calls Out State GOP Leadership For Failing To Stand Up For 2nd Amendment

“Make our Children as Safe as Lawyers and Judges”
June 3, 2022
Republican CD-7 Primary Election candidate John Flora, is calling on state Republican leaders to stand up for 2nd Amendment rights and stop kowtowing to liberals who want to end legal gun ownership in America.
Flora specifically called out the current and former state GOP chairmen Robert Hugin and Doug Steinberg for failing rally the party to protect the people’s right to bear arms. Flora called the Republican leadership in New Jersey, “weak on the bedrock issues of liberty for Americans.”
Flora also cited former State Senator Tom Kean Jr and current Assemblyman Erik Peterson – both of whom are running for Congress — for failing to stand up for gun rights and countering the Democrats alleged gun safety proposals “that will not make people safer and will ultimately create more government intrusion into our lives.”
“It’s infuriating that people who call themselves Republicans or conservatives in New Jersey are unwilling to intelligently engage with the liberals on 2nd Amendment issues and seem all too willing to concede the issue to the progressives,” said Flora.
“It’s all but guaranteed that if Tom Kean or Eric Peterson ever make it to Congress, the Democrats will have a reliable vote to end weapons possession by law abiding people in America,” said Flora.
Flora, an NRA member, pointed out that Kean and Peterson voted for New Jersey’s Red Flag Law, which allows government to confiscate weapons based on hearsay of a relative or neighbor.
Flora said that nearly all of the proposed gun reform measures proposed by state and federal Democrats will do nothing to curtail gun violence “but will certainly impact the safety of law-abiding citizens.
“If more gun control were the answer to violence, Chicago – with all its gun rules – would be one of the safest cities in America. It is not. Over the Memorial Day weekend, 51 people were shot in Chicago; at least 9 were killed,” he noted.
Flora supports concealed carry laws that allow civilians to carry weapons to protect themselves. “Criminals know that 99 percent of the people they confront are not armed, so their chances of successfully committing a crime is also 99 percent.”
MAKE KIDS SAFE IN SCHOOL
Flora, a former school board president, says the way to protect children in schools is to improve safety in all the buildings and make sure each school has trained, armed personnel to protect our children.
“There is a reason crazed gunmen don’t attack police stations or county courthouses. They are too well defended. Lawyers, judges and prosecutors are protected by armed guards, physical barriers and metal detectors.
“Why aren’t these same protections afforded to our school children? Why are lawyers and judges better protected than our children?”
“There is plenty of money in state and federal treasuries and most school district budgets to afford more security. Why aren’t we using it to protect the most vulnerable among us?” asked Flora, the mayor of Fredon Township.
He noted that New Jersey now enjoys a massive $10 billion budget surplus, yet Gov. Murphy will NOT consider beefing up school security. Instead, he doling out $21 million to control litter and will spend $45 million to buy electric school buses for 18 school districts in NJ. Both are absurd wastes of money, says Flora.
Federal waste is even more nauseating said Flora who ticked off a short list of recent federal appropriations:
• Funded research that involves hooking Zebrafish on nicotine $708,466
• Bought a statue from Bob Dylan for the embassy in Mozambique $84,375.
• Studied the connection between drinking alcohol and winding up in the E.R. $4,658,865.
• Improved the quality of Egyptian schooling 16,000,000.
• Bought textbooks for Afghan students $33,921,175.
• Brought Serbian cheese up to international standards $22,000,000
“Think of what we can do if our tax money was put to protecting school children,” said Flora.
