Food and Water Watch: Murphy’s Clean Energy Plan: We Must Go Further

Murphy’s Clean Energy Plan: We Must Go Further

The following statement was released by Food & Water Watch Policy Advocate Lena Smith:

“In order to deal with the urgent threat posed by climate change, the goals of reaching 50% renewable energy by 2030, or even 100% by 2050, are simply not bold enough.”

“By signing this law, Governor Murphy must now firmly reject any and all fossil fuel infrastructure projects proposed anywhere in the state. Communities from the Highlands to the Pinelands are standing up to dirty fossil fuel infrastructure to protect their health and safety. Pipelines, power plants, and compressor stations that rely on dirty energy directly contradict Governor Murphy’s clean energy vision.”
