FORMER ENGLEWOOD COUNCILWOMAN LYNN ALGRANT ENDORSES PHIL MEISNER FOR MAYOR
FORMER ENGLEWOOD COUNCILWOMAN LYNN ALGRANT
ENDORSES PHIL MEISNER FOR MAYOR
ENGLEWOOD, NJ, March 29, 2018—Former Englewood Councilwoman Lynne Algrant announced her support for Phil Meisner to be Englewood’s next mayor.
“Phil is incredibly gracious, thoughtful and caring, and is someone who will really listen to residents,” Algrant said. “He will work very hard for the people of Englewood. He’s in it for them. He listens more than he talks, which is rare in a politician,” Algrant said.
Algrant, who served as an at-large councilwoman for six years, said she became impressed with Phil’s work ethic and leadership skills while the two served long hours together on the Mayor’s Commission on Budget and Finance.
“I saw him in action. I saw his attention to detail, his ability to synthesize complex issues into digestible information people can understand,” Algrant said. “He is very smart, he is ethical, he is trustworthy, he works really hard,” Algrant said.
Algrant, the CEO of the Bergen Volunteer Center, runs the Bergen LEADS program, a civic leadership training program that ensures a pipeline of ethical leaders for all Bergen County communities. Algrant said Englewood’s form of government requires a mayor with Phil’s thoughtful approach to problems and genuine interest in residents’ lives.
“The mayor of Englewood has to be a really good listener because that’s who residents go to with their concerns,” Algrant said. “For me, to have leaders who are responsive to residents, who know how people live, who will listen to people and who understands what local government can and cannot do is very important. I think Phil is a great listener, a very thoughtful person, and he will be a very good colleague to the council members,” Algrant said.
“I am so proud to have the endorsement of former Councilwoman Algrant,” said Phil Meisner. “I was privileged to be able to work with Lynne during her time as Councilwoman, she has been a friend and a guiding light to me and to many in the City both during her time in office and after. It is humbling to have such a vote of confidence from a woman who has set the standard for public service in the City and the County.”
Phil Meisner is a long serving Board Member of Englewood’s Vincente K. Tibbs Child Development Center and has served on Englewood’s Economic Development Corporation and Englewood’s Board of Zoning Adjustment, the Mayor’s Commission on Budget and Finance, and as Vice Chairman of the New Jersey State Anti-Bullying Task Force. He is the former chief of staff for Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle and Assemblyman Gordon Johnson and has served as a legislative director and aide in the New Jersey State Assembly. Meisner is currently the vice president and assistant general counsel for Hudson Media, Inc./Hudson Capital Properties.
