Former Paterson Public Safety Director Glenn Brown Endorses Andre Sayegh for Mayor

PATERSON, NJ— Paterson’s former public safety director, Glenn Brown, announced his support for sixth ward Councilman Andre Sayegh, who is running for mayor in Paterson’s upcoming municipal elections.  Brown is a career law enforcement officer having retired as chief of detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Brown, who oversaw Paterson’s police, fire and EMS departments for more than eight years, said Sayegh was the leader Paterson needed to tackle the issues of greatest concern to Paterson residents:  the city’s stubborn crime rate and the cycle of city hall corruption.

“Paterson needs a leader who is focused on making our city safer,” said former Public Safety Director Glenn Brown “Paterson needs a leader that recognizes that lowering crime and rooting out city hall corruption is the key for our City to evolve into the thriving, prosperous community that hardworking families deserve.”

Brown, who initially set out on a mayoral run himself, dropped out of the race and pledged to back the candidate who would represent the interests of all segments of Paterson’s diverse population.

“Paterson has serious perception problems both within the City as well as to all those looking in.  Our City needs a mayor that has the integrity to act in the best interest of all our diverse communities.  I believe that Andre Sayegh can bring pride back to Paterson,” added Glenn Brown

Paterson’s municipal elections are May 8. Voters will cast ballots for mayor, and for three at-large council seats.

“I am honored to have the support of Director Brown, because I share his commitment to making sure our government serves all of Paterson’s residents and families,” said Andre Sayegh. “I have tremendous respect and admiration for Glenn’s lifelong dedication to law enforcement and public safety.  Crime prevention and tackling city hall corruption have always been priorities of mine and will continue to be so.”

Councilman Andre Sayegh has represented Paterson’s Sixth Ward since he was first elected in 2008.  He previously served on Paterson’s Board of Education from 2004-2008. For more information about Councilman Sayegh and his campaign, visit andresayegh.com.
