Bhalla is the first Sikh to be elected mayor to a New Jersey municipality

Florio Perrucci Steinhardt & Fader would like to congratulate our Partner Ravi Bhalla on his historic victory, becoming the first Sikh to be elected mayor to a municipality in the State of New Jersey in his hometown of Hoboken.

Ravi has been serving as a councilman-at-large of the one-square-mile-city since 2009. An Indian-American born and raised in New Jersey, Ravi was endorsed this past June by Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer who decided not to seek re-election to a third term.

He ran a very successful campaign and came out victorious in a six-person race where he faced challenges from fellow council members, a Hudson County Freeholder, and others. According to published reports, Ravi received 34 percent of the vote from his fellow Hoboken citizens.
