FY 2019 Defense Appropriations Bill Passes, Includes KC-46 Funding

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom MacArthur released the following statement after the Fiscal Year 2019 Defense Appropriations Act passed the House, which includes funding for the first wave of KC-46 tankers at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst:

“The inclusion of $2.5 billion in funding for the first installment of KC-46 tankers included in this legislation is incredible news for our region. Congress has appropriated this money to purchase fifteen aircraft, some of which will be stationed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. This will help ensure the Joint Base remains one of the nation’s premier air mobility installations, protecting the base and the thousands of jobs that rely on it.

Additionally, this legislation provides our service members with a much-deserved raise and an additional $34.4 billion for the Defense Health Program to provide quality care to our service members, their families, and veterans.

Our national defense and caring for our service members should never be partisan issues. Congress came together to pass this meaningful appropriations bill, which is great news for our military and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.”
