Gill Calls for Christie Admin to Release Ad Campaign Funding Details

TRENTON – Senator Nia H. Gill called on the Christie Administration to release details regarding funding for the state’s drug treatment advertising campaign, following a report that it is being paid for partially with funding for the state’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC):

“The state should be combating the opioid crisis, however, the work done by the Governor must be carried out responsibly. We should not be diverting funding for this cause from worthy programs designed to help our most vulnerable residents, in this case to provide education, support, health care and nutritious foods to low-income women, infants and children.

“The administration has to explain exactly how the state is paying for the addiction ad campaign, how much money has already been steered to it and how much they are planning to spend. Refusing to provide this information is unacceptable.”
