Glen Rock council candidates Mary Barchetto and Jill Orlich celebrated Mother’s Day this year by orchestrating a food drive to help out other mothers and families who might be struggling.

“Having volunteered in the nursery at Oasis for two years before running for office, I know first-hand how much these families need this help,” said Barchetto, adding, “They need it even more in these pandemic times.”

Barchetto and Orlich put out a call to fellow Glen Rockers to open their pantries and share food staples and other necessary items like diapers and wipes, and residents rose to the occasion during the eight days of the collection. Both candidates were excited to see the response, and grateful to be able to make an impact.

Orlich noted, “It’s great that people donated so much food for the women and children served by Oasis! So many people are struggling with food insecurity at this time, and this will really help them. I’m so glad to be part of the very generous community of Glen Rock!”

“A small donation or even an hour a week can make a huge difference in someone’s life,” Barchetto said. “I encourage the residents of Glen Rock to get involved at Oasis, or through any organization that helps those in need.”
