Gottheimer Endorsed By New Jersey League Of Conservation Voters

Today, Tuesday, October 16, 2018, Josh Gottheimer joined New Jersey League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Executive Director Ed Potosnak at Cooper’s Pond in Bergenfield to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund for Gottheimer’s re-election for Congress.

At Cooper’s Pond, Gottheimer was also joined by Freeholder Chair Tom Sullivan, Bergenfield Councilwoman Ora Kornbluth, Bergenfield Councilman Buddy Deuna, Dumont Councilman Carl Manna, and Bergenfield mom and former head of the Bergenfield PTA Lupe Ruiz-Catala.

“LCV is an incredible partner in the fight for clean air and clean water for Jersey families, and I am honored to have LCV Action Fund’s endorsement today,” said Josh Gottheimer. “In Congress, I have worked across the aisle and with local, state, and federal officials to claw back federal resources to New Jersey to help clean up our communities, get lead out of our drinking water, and stop off-shore drilling at the Jersey Shore. Keeping North Jersey’s water and air free of pollution is a not a Democrat or Republican issue, it’s just a good for New Jersey families issue.”

“Since his first Congressional race, Josh Gottheimer has been fighting for cleaner air and clean water for New Jersey’s families and businesses. Josh’s continued membership on the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus in Congress will only become more important as we stand up to polluters and find common sense solutions to our growing climate problems. This election will be one of the most important elections of our lives, and I know that the 5th congressional district can count on Josh Gottheimer to safeguard their environment and protect their health,” said New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Ed Potosnak.

“LCV Action Fund is excited to endorse Josh Gottheimer for re-election because he has been a leader for the environment and public health,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He has worked tirelessly for safe drinking water for all and against offshore drilling in the Atlantic Ocean. We need his voice in Congress to continue fighting for the health and wellbeing of New Jersey families.”

In Congress, Gottheimer introduced the bipartisan Lead-Free School Act, which would require school districts to test for lead and boost transparency between parents and districts by publicizing the status and outcome of the testing. He has also called on Governor Murphy to ensure school districts are making lead testing results publicly available to students’ families online. In addition, Gottheimer has been focused on helping North Jersey towns apply for and win grants that help claw back dollars to New Jersey. Earlier this month, Gottheimer announced that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had finalized plans to force contaminating companies to invest $19.5 million to upgrade the groundwater cleanup plans and expand the removal of dangerous contaminants at the Fair Lawn Well Field Superfund site.
