Gottheimer Honors Fifth District World War II Veteran to Commemorate 75 Years Since D-Day Invasion

 

 

DUMONT, N.J. – Today, Thursday, June 6, 2019, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) visited Dumont resident and World War II veteran Private First Class (Ret.) Joe Kelly, USMC, to commemorate 75 years since D-Day.

 

Kelly is 95-years-old, was one of ten children, and is the father of seven sons who served in the U.S. armed forces. He was an avid skier until the age of 80 and remains incredibly active in the Bergenfield VFW. Kelly served in the Pacific Ocean theater during World War II.

 

Gottheimer presented Kelly with an American flag he had flown over the U.S. Capitol Building in his honor.
