WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) marked National Police Week by voting for his cosponsored bipartisan Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Program legislation (H.R. 2379), which passed the House 400 to 9, and by delivering remarks on the House floor in support of our brave law enforcement officers.

Gottheimer proudly cosponsored H.R. 2379, which reauthorizes a federal program that helps state and local law enforcement agencies purchase bulletproof vests for officers working in the field. Companion legislation also passed the Senate this week.

Gottheimer also joined a bipartisan Special Order hour on the floor of the House of Representatives to thank law enforcement officers for their service to our communities and to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty.

“I am committed to fighting for all our sworn officers and first responders by making sure that our municipalities and police departments have the resources, equipment, and training they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. That includes critical programs like the COPS and Byrne/JAG grants, the Bulletproof Vest Partnership program, and the Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) excess equipment program.,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) on the House floor. “Our law enforcement officers rely on these resources as they protect our families. With our brave law enforcement protecting our communities, we’re ensuring that our best days will always be ahead of us.”
