FLEMINGTON, NJ (Oct. 1, 2018)—Gov. Phil Murphy endorsed Councilperson Betsy Driver for Flemington Mayor, and Chris Runion and Caitlin Giles-McCormick for Borough Council at a rally in Flemington, the campaign announced.

Betsy, you will be the mayor of Flemington and Chris and Caitlin will join you on Council and we will make a statement about what it means to be a Democrat not just here but around the state,Gov. Murphy said.

The rally was hosted by the Hunterdon County Democratic Committee at the Stangl Factory in Flemington. The governor had attended a private reception in Flemington prior to the rally.

Introducing the governor, Councilperson Driver noted that Gov. Murphy was the first sitting governor to visit Hunterdon County in two decades and that the governor had won Flemington in the 2017 election, despite the Borough’s historic Republican leanings.
