GREAT SWAMP WATERSHED ASSOCIATION RETURNS TO PICTURESQUE HARTLEY FARMS FOR 2ND ANNUAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

Five bands, a big tent, and lots to do at this family-friendly event

Morristown, NJ —Great Swamp Watershed Association (GSWA) announced today that the Great Swamp Great Music festival will take place once again at the historic Hartley Farms Polo Field on Sunday, June 9, 2019 12:00-5:30 PM (gates open at 11:00 AM), just minutes off I-287 in Morristown, New Jersey. This family-friendly, outdoor festival is the organization’s 2nd largest annual fundraiser featuring live music, food and beverages, vendors, and more. Visit GreatSwamp.org to purchase tickets.

“Last year’s inaugural live music festival was such a hit, we knew right away this would be an annual event,” stated Sally Rubin, GSWA Executive Director. “And this year with the addition of a fifth band and more food and merchant vendors, there’s lots more to hear, see, and do!”

The event will feature returning crowd-favorites, Not Enough Jeffs and The Gammon Brothers, along with solo artist, Jeff Webb, who keeps the music flowing between bands for a continuous musical afternoon. New to the festival this year are Lenox Underground, LogJam, and Purple Hayes. This combination of bands will offer a mix of classic rock, Motown, reggae, Americana, newgrass, blues and more.

Food will be available for purchase from Minuteman Smokehouse & Grill (BBQ), Summer Daze Catering (hotdogs & sausage sandwiches), Pie Oh My Pizza (classic, vegetarian, and vegan options), Lebanon Boro General Store (sweet treats), and Friendly’s ice cream.

GSWA has also teamed up with MARS Essex Horse Trials to offer the first 300 people to approach their booth a free ticket to their three-day event taking place at Moorland Farm, Far Hills, NJ on June 21-23, 2019. “In an effort to build community and provide opportunities for families to enjoy some outdoor activities, we are thrilled to offer these free tickets to Great Swamp Watershed Association supporters,” stated Ralph Jones, Co-Chair of the MARS Essex Horse Trials. “And of course, we look forward to being a part of this amazing music event!”

The music festival site, Hartley Farms Polo Field, is nestled within 200 acres of scenic meadows and forests of the historic Hartley Farms, 24 miles west of New York City. The area was lived in and visited by such historic figures as the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Colgates, Frelinghuysens, and many U.S. presidents. Beginning in 1927 and for the next 30 years, Harley Farms Polo Field was the site of the Morris & Essex Dog Show, the largest single day event in the world, attracting crowds of up to 50,000 spectators.

“We are so fortunate for the generosity of our board chairman, Nicolas Platt, for once again donating the use of this gorgeous location for everyone to relax and enjoy a day of music and supporting the environment,” stated Ms. Rubin.

In addition, the festival is handicap accessible and offers plentiful free parking, a big tent, and an expansive field for attendees to stretch out on their blankets and chairs. Also available are free caricatures, face painting, children’s games, and more.

The live music festival is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased at GreatSwamp.org or by calling 973-538-3500. Pricing: $20 in advance ($25 at the gate) for adults, $10 for students, children 13 and under are free.
