Greenwald and Lampitt Statement on Announced Opening of Atlantic City Rail Line
(TRENTON) – Majority Leader Lou Greenwald (D-Camden, Burlington) and Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt (D-Camden, Burlington) released the following statement on Wednesday’s announcement by Governor Murphy that the Atlantic City Rail line will restore service on May 12th, ahead of the scheduled May 24th reopening.
The Atlantic City Rail Line was temporarily closed last year to install the federally mandated Positive Train Control safety updates, which were completed in December 2018.
“We are pleased to see the announcement that the Atlantic City Rail Line will reopen ahead of the scheduled date that was announced by NJTRANSIT last month. We appreciate that the Governor heard the call of thousands of South Jersey commuters and working families who rely on the line each day to travel to and from work. Having this much anticipated rail line up and running before the summer season is critical for this region and will have a positive impact on our economy and the lives of every passenger who depends on this line.”
