As first detailed by reporter Nikita Biryukov, The Kennedy Forum, a non-profit founded by Amy Kennedy’s husband Patrick and where Amy serves as “Educational Director,” formed ParityPAC in 2015.   As sitting United States Senators, Cassidy does not support any restrictions on the sale of guns and has an A-rating from the NRA.  Portman has touted his zero rating from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Violence.  Both Senators are 100% pro-life, voted against the impeachment of President Trump, and support deporting undocumented residents before they can apply for U.S. citizenship. As far as health care, Senator Cassidy authored a bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act and Senator Portman has a long record for voting to repeal ACA.  In addition, Senator Cassidy does not support same sex marriage, has a zero rating from both the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. 

The following is a statement from Brigid Callahan Harrison, Democratic candidate for the 2^nd Congressional District:

“Patrick and Amy Kennedy used dollars from their own political action committee to support the election of extreme Trump Republicans – and they should be ashamed of themselves.  Through their contributions, Amy and Patrick have been co-conspirators funding the Trump agenda that has fought against women’s reproductive freedom, put guns in the hands of criminals, and created a climate of hate around the issue of immigration.  The last four years has been an historic moment where Democrats have fought so hard against the Trump Administration and Mitch McConnell’s senate, and Amy and Patrick have been funding the opposition.  It is beyond me and most fair-minded Democrats how they could rationalize endorsing and funding two of Trump’s soldiers, but regardless it seems they once again have some questions to answer.

“Make no mistake, our campaign against Donald Trump and Jeff Van Drew’s far right-wing agenda will be the fight of our lives.  Amy Kennedy’s immoral and thoughtless actions
to support candidates who are against sensible gun control, choice, and gay marriage is wrong, dumb, and most certainly, does not match her words as a Democratic candidate.  This is just yet another example of Amy saying one thing but doing another. Now that Jeff Van Drew is a Republican, hopefully the Kennedys do not need to be reminded not to donate to him.”
