Higher Heights PAC Endorses Tahesha Way for Congress
WAYNE, NJ – Today, Higher Heights PAC, the nation's only political action committee dedicated to electing Black women to office, endorsed Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State Tahesha Way in her bid to represent New Jersey's Eleventh Congressional District.
"Tahesha Way is exactly the kind of leader we need in Congress right now – a proven fighter who has taken on Donald Trump and won, and who has spent her career delivering real results for working families," said Jay Brandon, Political Director of Higher Heights PAC. "She's been sued by Trump, fought him in court, and never backed down despite relentless threats and attacks. As Secretary of State, she expanded voting rights and pushed back against Trump's attempts to restrict access to the ballot. In Congress, she'll be a champion for working families and ensure every American has a voice in our democracy."
"I'm honored to have the support of Higher Heights PAC as I run to fight for New Jersey's Eleventh District in Congress," said Tahesha Way. "My entire career has been about delivering for working families – from balancing budgets and controlling spending in Passaic County, to defending democracy and expanding ballot access as Secretary of State while Trump tried to tear it down. In Congress, I'll be that same relentless advocate for our families, our freedoms, and our future."
Tahesha has spent her career fighting for New Jersey families. As a county commissioner, she kept costs down by reining in tax increases and balancing the budget while still expanding services for vulnerable residents. As Secretary of State and Lieutenant Governor, she has led the fight for voting rights and working families – pushing back against Trump's attacks on voting access, expanding early voting and automatic voter registration, and championing key legislation to lower utility costs, expand mental health services, strengthen tenant protections, and support small businesses across New Jersey.
ABOUT TAHESHA
Tahesha Way is a mother, lawyer, lifelong public servant, and New Jersey’s Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State. Raised in a working-class union household by an MTA bus driver and a rail clerk, she learned early the values of hard work, community, and speaking up for others. After surviving a life-threatening cerebral brain hemorrhage in college, she re-taught herself how to read when her health insurance refused to cover the therapy she needed.
Tahesha has served as an Administrative Law Judge and as a Passaic County Commissioner and Board of Commissioners Director, where she expanded youth justice reform, food access, and educational opportunities while balancing the budget without raising taxes. As Secretary of State, she led major voting-rights expansions and stood up to the Trump Administration’s attempts to undermine New Jerseyans’ rights. As Lieutenant Governor, she has championed affordability, mental health services, small business growth, and protections for families across the state.
Tahesha is running for Congress to protect access to health care, address rising costs, and fight for the hardworking New Jersey families who deserve a voice and a champion in Washington. She lives in Wayne with her husband, Charles, and their four daughters.
