Homeowners to Defend Their Property Rights Against Unapproved PennEast Pipeline
Trenton, NJ (April 5, 2018) — Homeowners along the route of the proposed PennEast pipeline will gather on Thursday following a court hearing to discuss the outcome of the eminent domain trial proceedings in which PennEast Pipeline Co. is attempting to gain immediate survey access and land rights it needs to build its proposed pipeline in Hunterdon and Mercer counties, despite the fact that the pipeline is still missing several key approvals, including from the NJDEP and Delaware River Basin Commission.
PennEast is attempting to seize 149 properties in New Jersey, which represent the vast majority of affected lands on the route in this state, and which includes individual private landowners as well as taxpayer-preserved properties that are managed by conservation land trusts, municipal and county governments, and the State of New Jersey.
PennEast must still get permits from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and the Delaware River Basin Commission in order to construct the pipeline.
Homeowners will discuss how they are being personally impacted by PennEast’s unjust land grab, will react to the court’s decision, and will reiterate their unwavering opposition to the pipeline.
WHO: Homeowners impacted by PennEast pipeline and the attorneys who are representing them
WHERE: Clarkson S. Fisher Building & U.S. Courthouse
