Houghtaling and Downey Applaud Pre-K Expansion in Ocean Township
(TRENTON) – Assembly Democrats Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey (both D-Monmouth) released the following statements highlighting the recent preschool program expansion in Ocean Township School District, made possible through an additional $586,772 for the district included in the state budget:
Assemblyman Houghtaling: “Research shows attending preschool helps students build the skills they need to help them succeed academically and socially throughout their school careers. With this additional funding, more children in the Ocean Township school district will have access to preschool and its benefits. This important investment in our schools will help set our young students on a path to reach their fullest potential.”
Assemblywoman Downey: “Before this school year, Ocean Township schools were only able to offer preschool classes to a very limited number of students. I am thrilled Ocean was one of 28 districts selected to receive increased state aid to help expand its quickly growing program, and offer more children a chance to begin their education earlier. Investing in our schools will make our state’s education system more comprehensive and valuable for our students, building a strong foundation on which they can find success.”
