HUDSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S SUPERIORS FOP LODGE #127
BREAK FROM SCHILLARI AND ENDORSE DAVIS FOR COUNTY SHERIFF
Hudson County, NJ – Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis today received a strongly worded endorsement from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Superiors FOP Lodge #127 in his campaign for County Sheriff. Davis already has the support of the county Democratic organization and other prominent Democrats and police and fire organizations from throughout the county in the June 10th Democratic Primary.
Davis and the Hudson County Democrats are being challenged by Frank Schillari, a longtime incumbent who has served in a leadership position in the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office since the 1990s.
The Hudson County Sheriff’s Superiors FOP Lodge #127 released the following statement in strong support of Davis:
“Our members have dedicated their careers to protecting this county with integrity and professionalism. Under Jimmy Davis’ leadership, we believe they will finally have the respect and support they deserve. His vision will restore pride in the badge and bring back a sense of purpose that’s been missing for far too long.”
“Our campaign continues to gather significant momentum with each passing day,” said Davis. “I am truly appreciative of all of the support we are receiving because of what we have accomplished in Bayonne, but also because of the vision we will carry forward into the County Sheriff’s Office.”
Davis continued, “As a lifelong member of law enforcement, it disturbs me greatly to hear that this tremendous group of law enforcement professionals feel they have not been afforded the support they deserve from Sheriff Schillari. The County Sheriff’s Office leadership has seemingly lost the respect of the people under their command due to lack of leadership. If I am elected, that will change on day one. As your Sheriff, I commit to having these fine officers do what they do best, make our roads safer, protect our courts, and protect our residents.”
Davis previously served in the Hudson County Prosecutor’s homicide division before leading a special crimes unit and working alongside prosecutors from several counties, the FBI, U.S. Treasury Department and Department of Justice. Since being elected mayor of Bayonne, he has focused on combating crime and stabilizing the city’s tax rate while fixing the long-standing debt issues.
Davis has already received the endorsement of the Hudson County Democratic Organization and Democratic Chair Craig Guy and Vice-Chair Mareilka Diaz, Union City Mayor Brian P. Stack, West New York Mayor Albio Sires, Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, Kearny Mayor Carol Jean Doyle, PBA Local 7, the Police Superior Officers Association (PSOA), FMBA Local 11 and Fire Officers Local 211.
