Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center Will Finish Week with 96% Dose Utilization Rate

Hudson’s Municipal and County-run Sites Post Cumulative Rate of at least 83%

KEARNY, N.J. — Following its record high 1,200 vaccine appointments scheduled for today, the Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center projects that it will have utilized 96% of vaccine doses allocated to it by the State of New Jersey. Cumulatively, vaccine Points of Distribution in Hudson County that are operated either by the County of Hudson or by municipal health departments are projected to utilize at least 83% of their allocated vaccine doses by the end of the day today. That number will likely increase due to municipal PODs that are operating today.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work that our Hudson County Vaccine Task Force is doing along with Hudson Regional Health Commission to keep our residents safe by administering this lifesaving vaccine,” said County Executive Tom DeGise. “Along with our partners on the municipal level, the available data clearly shows that we are meeting our goal of utilizing as much of the vaccine doses that we are allocated by the state as quickly and efficiently as possible. We are hopeful that we will be able to continue expanding our operations if more vaccine supply is made available to us.”

In addition to the number of doses given at the Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center, the data being tracked by the County of Hudson includes municipal PODs being operated throughout the county by local health departments. The data does not include vaccine doses being administered by hospitals and medical offices, by Walgreens and CVS as part of the national partnership to inoculate residents long term care centers, by the State of New Jersey at its six Mega-Sites or by any other entity.

The center, located at 110 Hackensack Avenue in Kearny, is open by appointment only. Those currently eligible include doctors and nurses within private practices, dentists, hygienists, community and public health workers, funeral directors, paid and unpaid Emergency Medical Technicians, uniformed police and firefighters, those working in labs with infectious material, individuals over the age of 65 and those with underlying health conditions.
