Hudson Republicans Call for Reforms After Snowmageddon
Jersey City-After a moderate storm brought New Jersey to a halt yesterday, Hudson Republican Chairman Jose Arango and Executive Director Dan Beckelman think its time that the state and authorities need to review emergency plans and improve response times.
“Unplowed roads in many areas causing hundreds of accidents. Port Authority bridges and bus terminals shut down leaving people stranded. This is what would happen in a third-world country, not one of the wealthiest parts of America. Our public officials, including the Governor and the leadership of the Port Authority, need to stop focusing on pet projects and instead focus on public safety and emergency preparedness.” Arango stated.
“Commuting home to Jersey City from the suburbs was basically impossible yesterday. There were very few plows which left roads impassable. NJ Transit trains were operating with severe delays. The Governor always says we pay a lot to live in NJ but we ‘get our money’s worth’. It is very hard to see how that was true yesterday. In fact, I believe yesterday’s ineptitude was the greatest sales pitch for Florida real estate I have ever seen.” Beckelman said.
Beckelman and Arango also praised the bipartisan call for hearings from Assemblymembers Bucco and Chiaravalloti. “It is refreshing to see leaders from both parties working together to help prevent another crisis like this from happening again.” the Hudson GOP leaders concluded.
