INDIVISIBLE NJ 4TH DISTRICT HOSTS CD4 CANDIDATE JOSH WELLE IN  MEET THE CANDIDATES SERIES

Josh Welle, a candidate for the June 2018 congressional Democratic primary, will speak at the second of three forum-style events.

LINCROFT, N.J., (February 19, 2017) – Indivisible NJ 4th District, in partnership with Indivisible Two Rivers, The Greater Red Bank Women’s Initiative, and Allentown-Upper Freehold Indivisible, will host candidate Josh Welle in the second Meet the Candidates series this winter. The event, which is open to the public, will take place on February 22, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation 1475 W Front St. in Lincroft.

“Josh is a Navy veteran who served missions in Afghanistan, the Persian Gulf, and East Asia. He has expertise in national security affairs and public policy. He is also a business leader, serving as the CEO of a software company he founded,” said Kevin Akey, Indivisible NJ 4th District steering committee member. “We are excited to have someone with his experience and dedication to public service add his views to our Candidate Nights Series.”

Akey continued, “Our goal for the Candidate Night Series is to help voters make an informed decision about their vote. We are offering an opportunity for voters to hear each candidate in extended dialogue and discussion of issues with follow up questions. We believe this format will help voters evaluate each candidate’s strengths and weaknesses in a way that a debate does not.”

Mr. Welle has been endorsed by numerous local Democratic Party Chairpersons, Victor Scudiery, longtime former chairman of the Monmouth County Democrats, Sue Fulton, board member of SPART*A (a nonpartisan, inclusive, member-based organization that is committed to providing support and ensuring equal opportunities, benefits, and rights for all LGBT servicemembers and veterans and their families), Jim Miller, former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy under President Obama, Richard Danzig, former United States Secretary for the Navy under President Clinton, Square One, and White House adviser to four presidents and co-director of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership, David Gergen.

Mr. Welle will describe his qualifications for office, his motivation for running, positions on important issues and how he intends to defeat Congressman Chris Smith in the November congressional election. Rep. Smith, who has represented New Jersey’s 4th congressional district since 1981, has not hosted a constituent town hall in over two decades.

The primary election for the U.S. House of Representatives will take place on June 5, 2018. The deadline for registering to vote in the June primary election is May 15th. Those voters who wish to change their party affiliation must do so by April 11th.
