TRENTON, NEW JERSEY – After polling the union’s membership, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 21 is proud to endorse Democratic candidate Mikie Sherrill for Governor of New Jersey.
“Working New Jerseyans are tired of seeing their bills become more expensive and their paycheck stay the same,” said Bernie Snyder, Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer of IUPAT District Council 21. “In times like these, workers need a governor who will stand with them in the fight for higher pay, a safe workplace, and their right to unionize. Congresswoman Sherrill has taken the fight to Washington for workers, and she will do the same in Trenton as governor.”
Congresswoman Sherrill has been a champion for workers in Congress, supporting the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, expanding Registered Apprenticeship programs, and protecting prevailing wage.
“IUPAT District Council 21 is a non-partisan labor union that evaluates candidates based on their record and commitment to working people, not their political affiliation. Following a rigorous endorsement process—including a candidate survey, member polling, and interviews—District Council 21 is proud to endorse Mikie Sherrill for Governor of New Jersey,” said Tim Crowther, Political Director of IUPAT District Council 21. “Mikie Sherrill has demonstrated a clear understanding of the challenges facing our members and a strong commitment to advancing labor rights, protecting good union jobs, and supporting working families. We are confident she will be a true advocate for our members and all working people across New Jersey.”
District Council 21 is certain that she will continue to be a champion for workers as the governor of New Jersey, and plans to put the full weight of the union behind her to make sure she is elected.
