JCPD Bicyclists raise nearly $70,000 for 2019 Police Unity Tour, in Special Honor of Lieutenant Chris Robateau and all Lives Lost in the Line of Duty

 

Sendoff Event Shows Support for the 37 Members of the JCPD Cycling Team, among the largest individual Police Department teams participating in the Nationwide Event

 

What:             City officials will join the annual crowds to show support and encouragement to the 37 JCPD officers at the Jersey City Police Unity Tour ceremony.  The Jersey City Police Cycling Team has 37 members participating this year, with a special dedication in honor of Lieutenant Chris Robateau who was killed in the line of duty on January 5, 2018.  The ceremony will also commemorate the fifth anniversary of Detective Melvin Santiago’s death, as well as the 10th anniversary for fallen officer, Detective Marc Di Nardo.

Jersey City is one of the largest individual Police Department teams to participate in the 4-day bicycle tour from New York City to Washington D.C., raising nearly $70,000. The primary purpose of the Police Unity Tour is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty.  The secondary purpose is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum.
