Jersey City First Responders participate in Lifelike Active Shooter Drill inside School with 150 Real Actors playing Victims

Police, Fire, ESU and EMS will respond to a real-time active shooter incident in full tactical gear where they will be met with real actors as injured victims throughout the school

What:             Jersey City first responders will face a lifelike active shooter situation inside Saint Peter’s Preparatory School.  The active threat and crisis management exercise uses real-life actors as victims to create a realistic atmosphere where first responders must put their training to the test in a real-time active shooter scenario. The 150 actors will be comprised of Saint Peter’s Prep students, parents, and faculty.

“Our number one priority is keeping the public safe, therefore we must consistently stay at the top of our game to prepare and plan,” said Mayor Steven M. Fulop.

“We saw just how important investing in this type of training truly is, when officers’ active shooter training was put into use at the Newport Mall earlier this year,” said Public Safety Director James Shea.  “Our job is to mitigate risk and keep the public safe.”
