Jim Johnson Endorses Brendan Gill for Congress
Montclair, NJ — Today, during the campaign’s All Hands volunteer meeting, Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill, candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, announced the endorsement of Jim Johnson, a nationally respected public servant, former senior U.S. Treasury official, and longtime Montclair resident whose career has been defined by independence, integrity, and standing up to entrenched power.
The endorsement underscores Gill’s growing support among local leaders known for putting communities first and mobilizing grassroots movements. Johnson, who grew up in Montclair and has spent his career fighting for civil rights, accountability, and democratic reform, brings a powerful voice to Gill’s campaign for Congress.
“We are at a pivotal moment in our nation’s history,” said Jim Johnson. “Brendan brings communities together to stand up against extremism and defend our shared values. He knows our neighbors, he listens to their concerns, and he leads in a way that builds trust and unity when it matters most.”
“Jim Johnson has always stood for what’s right, even when it meant standing alone,” said Brendan Gill. “He grew up in Montclair and built a career grounded in a deep understanding of our communities, fighting corruption, defending civil rights, and holding powerful institutions accountable. His endorsement means so much because it reflects the values this campaign is built on: service that starts with listening to the people we represent.”
