“Together, we tried to do something that has not been done before in New Jersey. We took on the party machine, and put the interests of the people ahead of the insiders. We did that because we know that we need to change the way we do things if we want to make real changes in the lives of hardworking people all across our state.
“And while we fell short in our goal of winning the primary, together we accomplished so much. We raised important issues, like ethics reform, campaign finance reform, and the need for universal pre-k in New Jersey. We developed plans to lower property taxes, help families struggling with foreclosure, and spur economic equality. And we brought together people from all across the state in a grassroots campaign with a simple but powerful goal – bring real change to New Jersey.
“Now is the time for us to come together – at a critical time in our state and our nation’s history – and work together to end the Chris Christie era and replace it with a strong, Democratic Governor. Chris Christie’s harmful and insider-focused policies and politics have hurt too many people in our state, and this matters even more so now that Donald Trump is President. Here in New Jersey, we need to do everything we can to turn that around, and ensure we elect a Democratic Governor in November. I look forward to working with Phil Murphy to ensure just that.”
