JOIS ON BRAMNICK: NJTV INTERVIEW PROVES HE’S OUT OF TOUCH

(Summit, NJ) — Attorney and activist Goutam Jois on Monday slammed statements Republican Minority Leader Jon Bramnick’s made in an NJTV interview over the weekend.

“Assemblyman Bramnick’s definitions of ‘extreme’ and ‘reasonable’ are out of touch with New Jerseyans’. There’s nothing extreme about banning high-capacity magazines, increasing access to health care, or enacting earned sick leave, all of which Democrats proposed, Assemblyman Bramnick didn’t support, and Governor Murphy signed,” said Jois.

Jois continued, “There’s nothing ‘reasonable’ about Assemblyman Bramnick’s historically perfect rating from the NRA and 0% rating on reproductive health. Simply calling Democrats ‘extreme’ and himself ‘reasonable’ doesn’t make those things true. This fall, voters will show us what ‘extreme’ and ‘reasonable’ actually mean.”

In the past year, Democrats passed Bill Nos. A2761, A3380, S1878, S120, and A1827.

  • A2761 limited ammunition magazines to 10 rounds. Assemblyman Bramnick voted no on the bill; the law was recently upheld by the Third Circuit.

  • A3380 reversed the
Trump administration’s efforts to gut the Affordable Care Act and S1878 implemented a health care “reinsurance” program. Assemblyman Bramnick opposed both bills. These laws have reduced health insurance premiums by nearly 10% for 2019. (Source.)
S120 funded family planning services, including Planned Parenthood.  Assemblyman Bramnick abstained.

  • A1827 implemented
earned sick leave. Assemblyman Bramnick voted no.

Assemblyman Bramnick was rated 100% by the NRA in and 0% by Planned Parenthood in 2017, the most recent year for which Project Vote Smart has posted data. Bills and votes are available
