Kim Receives Senate Endorsement from NRDC Action Fund for his Leadership in Tackling the Climate Crisis

MOORESTOWN N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced the endorsement of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Action Fund in his race for the United States Senate. Since 1970, the NRDC has been on the front lines advancing bold climate policies to protect our communities, wildlife, and planet. In the fight for climate action, the NRDC has also been a leader on environmental justice, making sure that no community is left behind. Through their advocacy, the NRDC Action Fund educates the public and mobilizes voters to support candidates who are committed to bold climate action. In addition to this endorsement, Rep. Kim has previously been endorsed by the NRDC Action Fund as a candidate for congress in all of his past congressional races.

“As we continue to monitor the wide-spread devastation left in the wake of multiple major hurricanes, this moment highlights why organizations like the NRDC Action Fund are necessary in the push for real solutions to the climate crisis,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “People in New Jersey know the impact of climate change all too well; from those still struggling to recover from Superstorm Sandy and Hurricane Ida, to communities dealing with historic flooding, I will work to bring continued relief to New Jersey families and to protect future generations from further catastrophic impact.”

“The NRDC is proud to stand with Congressman Kim, a committed leader in the fight against climate change,” said Christy Goldfuss, the Executive Director of the NRDC. “Congressman Kim has devoted his career to making sure we leave our kids a better future, and that means addressing climate change now. He has worked to mitigate climate change, make our communities more climate resilient, and for environmental justice. Since taking office in 2019, Congressman Kim has been a leader in the fight against climate change, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in the U.S. Senate.”

Since taking office in 2019, Congressman Kim has led the fight against climate change by working to pass bold legislation, including the Inflation Reduction Act, which made the largest investment in climate mitigation in history. He also voted for the Build Back Better Act, which has helped spur the clean energy transition, and supported the CHIPS and Science Act, to bolster American manufacturing and clean technology and ensure that the green economy is powered by good-paying union jobs. Andy also introduced the Resilient Highways Act for local communities to strengthen their infrastructure against extreme climate events.

In addition to these legislative efforts, Congressman Kim has secured millions of federal dollars to protect New Jersey from the effects of climate change. Through the Inflation Reduction Act, Andy helped secure $72.5 million to make New Jersey’s coastal communities more climate resilient and ready for coastal hazards.

As a son of immigrants and a graduate from New Jersey public schools, Congressman Andy Kim has been proud to represent his home community in Congress. Andy is a young father of two little boys and represents a new generation of leadership stepping up to fix our broken politics. As a former national security official, Andy previously advised President Obama on counterterrorism and worked for four-star generals in Afghanistan.

Andy went on to win a congressional district that Trump won twice by defeating three consecutive self-funding republican millionaires. In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families, help support small businesses through challenging times, and has battled House Republicans in the fight to restore protections for women in the aftermath of the 2022 Dobbs decision. Andy is now stepping up to run for senate to fight against corruption and restore integrity to public service.
