Democrats King and Trofimov Earn Sierra Club Endorsement

Candidates are committed to protecting NJ’s natural resources.

Clinton – The two Democratic candidates for Assembly in New Jersey’s 23rd Legislative District, Denise King from Bedminster in Somerset County and Marisa Trofimov from Bethlehem Township in Hunterdon County, have each earned an endorsement from the Sierra Club of New Jersey.

“Our Legislative District has the public drinking water supply for 1.2 million New Jersey residents. As a result, I’ve always felt protecting our environment and our drinking water was imperative, especially in our District in particular” said Marisa Trofimov who is a family and estate law attorney in Flemington. “Given that our incumbent Assemblymen in District 23 have lifetime environmental voting records of 32% and 38% respectively, I was very proud to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club. I believe that Denise and I can do a much better job of protecting the environment for our District and for New Jersey that the incumbents in Legislative District 23.”

Her running mate, Denise King added “The King-Trofimov team is pushing 3 salient issues for our Environmental protection platform: reclassification of the streams in NJ to Category 1, support for Governor Murphy’s goal of Carbon Neutral by 2050 and maintaining the Federal Tax credit incentives for Solar for NJ residents”. Denise, who is Chief Nursing Officer at Matheny Medical and Educational Center and past CEO of centers serving people with special needs, added “We hope these goals will be a huge boost to our LD23 District as a leader in the Environmental protection battle against the Federal decomposition of such programs.”

“Marisa Trofimov and Denise King are true advocates for the environment. They have pledged to make water quality and other environmental issues a key campaign issue. The Sierra Club is proud to give Ms. King and Ms. Trofimov our endorsement,” said John Kashwick, Political Committee Chair for the New Jersey Sierra Club Chapter.

The 23rd Legislative District includes 35 municipalities across Somerset County, North Hunterdon County, and Warren Counties.
