Letter: John McCann Is Best For Jersey

John McCann Is Best For Jersey

Dear editor,

The residents of New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District have a clear choice to make on Election Day this Tuesday: all talk and no action Democrat Josh Gottheimer or Republican John McCann. Gottheimer has been campaigning on a “lower taxes” message. Unfortunately, for some of the most taxed people in the nation, he has yet to deliver. During his tenure, Gottheimer has NEVER voted for or sponsored a tax cut bill. Additionally, he supports our Governor and his efforts to raise taxes by over $1.3 billion per year. That doesn’t sound like the fiscal conservative he claims he his.

Let’s also not forget his staunch support for the most corrupt US Senator we can ask for, Bob Menendez. Over his almost two years in Congress, Gottheimer has proven nothing more than to be a liberal rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi. He calls himself “bipartisan,” yet he votes with Pelosi nearly NINETY PERCENT of the time. In fact, his first vote ever was to elect her as Speaker.

Don’t fall for the same tricks and pitch lines I did two years ago. McCann is running on a message of healthcare and infrastructure reform, and preserving the tax cuts legislation. He is the only republican House candidate in the country that has proposed a true fix to Obamacare, which has devastated the middle class and small businesses. Make America Well Again is a market-based plan that allows insurance companies to compete across state lines and lowers prescription costs.

McCann wants to eliminate the $10,000 cap on SALT deductions and supports an additional 10% middle class tax cut. He feels that because of the current SALT cap, President Trump’s new tax law isn’t perfect. However, McCann often points out that the average District 5 family will save over $5,700 due to the tax cuts that Gottheimer voted against, and we can save even more by eliminating the cap. Gottheimer says one thing in Jersey and does something totally different in Washington.

Please vote for McCann this Tuesday to keep our future looking strong.
