Gottheimer offers no ideas, no solutions and no substance on school safety
Congressman spouts shallow rhetoric in the face of a horrible disaster
Hackensack, N.J. – Mayor Steve Lonegan, candidate for Congress in the 5th District, slammed liberal Democrat Rep. Josh Gottheimer for his “total lack of substance or even the smallest of ideas” as illustrated in the Congressman’s CNN interview seen here.
Mayor Lonegan said it was stunning to watch an elected official dance around the issue like a ballerina. Gottheimer avoided offering even the slightest of solutions, instead talking about doing “something” and his meaningless Problem Solvers Caucus, a group notorious for doing nothing.
“It is disturbing to watch a politician talk for seven minutes and say nothing,” said Lonegan. “Sort of like out of a comedy, but not funny in the shadow of the issue of school violence we are trying to resolve. Protecting our kids from the next would-be school shooter won’t be solved by Josh Gottheimer’s virtue signaling.”
”The sobering lesson of Parkland is that students and teachers cannot rely on law enforcement and must be empowered to protect themselves. That means allowing uniformed security and trained faculty to carry firearms in our schools and beefing up security with the latest technological advancements,” said Lonegan.
“If we truly value our kids, they deserve to be protected the same way we protect bureaucrats, government workers and politicians instead of being sitting ducks. The last line of defense should never have to be a teacher sacrificing his or her life by taking a bullet.”
