Lopez & Quijano Proudly Celebrate Rich Hispanic Culture in New Jersey

(TRENTON) – In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in New Jersey, Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez and Assemblywoman Annette Quijano sponsored a ceremonial resolution on Monday honoring Hispanic owned businesses for their contributions to the State’s economy and the communities in which they operate.

“Although Hispanic Heritage Month ended on October 15^th, I found it important to recognize Hispanic business leaders whose success has made an indelible mark on the State of New Jersey,” said Lopez (D-Middlesex). “The common narrative shared amongst all of the honorees is one of struggle, hard work and perseverance — all of which embody the Hispanic spirit and commitment to succeed despite any obstacle. It was my privilege to recognize today’s honorees for their outstanding achievements.”

The honorees included:
• Alberto Goncalves nominated by Assemblywoman Quijano (20^th District)
• Rafael Cuellar nominated by Assemblyman Schaer (36^th District)
• Lissette and Donato Marinelli nominated by Assemblywoman Jimenez (32^nd District)
• Cesar Shatiama nominated by Assemblyman Wimberley (35^th District)
• Tropical Cheese Industries, Inc. nominated by Assemblywoman Lopez (19^th District)
• La Ponceña nominated by Assemblywoman Lopez (17^th District)

“119,000 Hispanic businesses in the state contribute $20 billion to our state’s economy,” said Quijano (D-Union). “It is only fair that we honor these hard-working men and women who are champions in their own communities for giving back to their towns and have decided to use their success in business for their neighbors’ benefit.”
