Power of Women Reception on May 2, 2018

 

 

 

Newark, NJ – The LUPE Fund, Inc. will announce the selection of seven outstanding undergraduate students to receive the 2018 Young Latina Leadership Scholarship during their annual Power of Women Reception. LUPE Fund’s Power of Women Reception and 15th Anniversary Celebration will be held on May 2, 2018, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Waterside Restaurant, located at 7800 River Road in North Bergen, NJ.

 

 

 

This marks the seventh consecutive year in which LUPE Fund has provided college students from across New Jersey with the Young Latina Leadership Scholarship to assist in furthering their education. LUPE Fund’s Young Latina Leadership Scholarship is awarded to distinguished young women who are committed to academic excellence and exemplify leadership within their communities. The awards include one Gilda Morales Scholarship, one Zulima V. Farber Leadership Scholarship, one Dr. Michael Gartner Scholarship, and one Michele Adubato Scholarship.  Additionally, three students will receive the Young Latina Leadership Scholarship.

 

 

 

“It is imperative that we continue to support young Latinas who are pursuing higher education and become leaders within their respective fields. This year we are proud to announce the additional generous donations from Dr. Michael Gartner and Michele Adubato that will enable us to increase the number of scholarship awards,” said Sara Peña, President of LUPE Fund, Inc. “I am extremely proud to be part of an organization committed to providing support and guidance, which is very much needed in our community, as young women pursue their professional dreams.”

 

 

 

LUPE Fund, Inc. is a non-profit 501c3 organization whose motto is to Educate, Empower and Engage Latinas, provides scholarships, educational programs, networking opportunities and mentorship to promote leadership and civic engagement. The goal of the organization is to promote an increase in Latinas in civic leadership locally and statewide, and to collaborate with other women’s and children’s organization on issues of common interest such as health and education in order to advance the Latino community.
