Mayor Nominates Local Pastor Pursuing Business Degree to
Hamilton Township Economic Development Commission
In continuing Hamilton’s economic development efforts, Mayor Kelly Yaede has nominated a local pastor, who is pursuing a business degree, to Hamilton’s Economic Development Advisory Commission.
Mayor Yaede has nominated Dr. Joseph E. Woods, the Pastor of Saint Phillips Baptist Church in Hamilton, to serve on the commission.
Since 2010, Dr. Woods has served as pastor for his congregation at Saint Phillips Church. In addition to his four collegiate degrees, Dr. Woods is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University.
Dr. Woods is also the founder of the Higher Ground Association of Baptist Churches, Inc., is a former Civil Rights Commissioner for Montclair, NJ, as well as a former Housing Authority Commissioner for Morris County, NJ, and was formerly both the General Secretary and State Director for Christian Education for the General Baptist State Convention of NJ. Additionally, Dr. Woods is a Board Member of the John O. Wilson Neighborhood Service Center in Hamilton.
“My studies in business administration, along with my concern for both the members of my congregation here in Hamilton, as well as all Hamiltonians, led to my interest in serving on the Economic Development Advisory Commission,” says Dr. Woods. “I would like thank Mayor Yaede for this nomination and look forward to working along with her and her administration in their goals to provide economic opportunities across Hamilton Township.”
“I have enjoyed a very strong and positive relationship with Pastor Woods, as well as the Saint Phillips Baptist Church congregation,” explains Mayor Yaede. “I look forward to Pastor Woods joining our team on our Economic Development Advisory Commission and his contributions to its many endeavors.”
Woods nomination will be presented to the Township Council for final approval this evening.
The Hamilton Township Economic Development Advisory Commission serves as a volunteer, advisory body to the Mayor through interaction with the Hamilton’s Economic Development Department. The Commission seeks to offer information, insight, and advice regarding the economic growth and stability in Hamilton, assist in business attraction, retention and expansion, as well as holds annual events seeking to support and recognize local businesses.
