Mayor Wayne Levante Joins 2018 Freeholder Race
With Strong, Conservative Republican Values, Levante Delivers Independence and Experience

Newton, NJ, June 5, 2018 — Newton Mayor Wayne Levante announces his run for Sussex County Freeholder in 2018. The petition was filed yesterday afternoon with the county clerk’s office.

“The residents of Sussex County deserve better than just standard rhetoric like transparency, accountability and “change”. Our community has serious issues plaguing our lives and wallets that need to be addressed strongly and immediately,” Levante states.

With a diverse background in both the public and private sectors, Levante has seen firsthand how tax dollars are wasted or delivered to other regions like Hoboken, Jersey City, Newark, and Paterson while Sussex County is neglected. “For far too long Sussex County residents have subsidized and supported other parts of the state while we have been ignored. It is essential that someone advocates to keep our tax dollars here, bring even more aid back home, and then be able to budget those funds much more efficiently.”

Levante’s platform focuses on the core republican principles of smaller, limited government to help lower taxes and spur economic development.

Despite continued talk of increasing shared services, redundancies throughout local governments continue to plague Sussex County. School consolidation is by far the biggest issue of our generation and one that I have taken the lead on despite nasty retaliation by those who have much to lose. With declining enrollments and increasing costs, Sussex County residents are being priced out of their homes. I’ve shown that I have the backbone to confront these issues, and ones like them, head-on without wavering. We simply can no longer afford status quo.”

Increasing economic development while maintaining our scenic, pristine landscape is another top priority. ” We can’t continue having to commute 50 miles east to find a good paying job. Local business owners however have government working against them with costly regulations and requirements which is stifling growth. As Councilperson/Mayor in Newton, I successfully fought to ease up on these burdens and will fight with determination to bring these changes to the county.”

Increasing commuter transit options and addressing a miserable cable and internet infrastructure are also high priorities to boost jobs in Sussex County.

As a candidate of and for the people, Levante has proven that he is unafraid and won’t back down when it comes to protecting residents’ interests. He provides the strong conservative leadership needed to be your advocate on the Sussex County Freeholder Board.
