Media Advisory: Legislators, Advocates to Rally to Shield Working Families from Data Center Costs - Thursday, May 28th New Jersey State House

New Jersey LCV, community advocates and legislators will gather on the steps of the Executive Statehouse to demand that the Legislature take immediate action to lower energy costs and ensure that Big Tech is not permitted to reap record profits at the expense of New Jersey working families.
New Jersey families are currently paying the price for rising energy costs while data centers and other massive, high-load energy users avoid accountability. Data centers are driving electricity prices even higher, and speakers will highlight the urgent need to protect working families — who are already suffering from rising grocery prices — from even higher rates.
The coalition will call on Trenton to hold data center developers accountable for making critical investments in our grid and in clean energy to shield residents and secure a sustainable future.
Following the rally, advocates and partners will head inside the Statehouse to meet directly with legislators and push for the passage of critical legislation designed to protect working families and local businesses.
