| Andover, NJ – Today, Megan O’Rourke — a scientist, former farmer, and labor leader — announced the senior members of her campaign team in New Jersey’s Democratic primary for the seventh congressional district. O’Rourke’s team has deep experience in New Jersey and nationwide and reflects the district's diversity.
“I’m proud to have built a strong team that will thoughtfully reach out to voters in our district,” said Megan O’Rourke. “Our campaign staff has been successful locally and nationally. They have won tough Republican Congressional Districts across the country and will do so here in New Jersey too. We are building an active, strong campaign to engage with voters, especially those who may not have felt heard in the past. We are making sure New Jersey’s seventh district has a voice in Congress that will fight to make life more affordable and take on the Trump Administration, which continues to attack our rights and freedoms.” Senior Advisor Marilyn Davis is a senior advisor to the campaign. She is the founder and CEO of MDD Connections, a political consulting firm. She recently served as a Senior Advisor for One Giant Leap, an independent expenditure in support of Mikie Sherrill for Governor. Her political experience includes serving in senior roles at the Democratic National Committee, Obama for America, and Corzine for Governor. Campaign Manager Chris Smith serves as campaign manager. He is a former Deputy Campaign Manager for Stacey Abrams and 2016 National Field Director for Bernie Sanders. Deputy Campaign Manager Avery Torres serves as the Deputy Campaign Manager. Torres worked for Josh Gottheimer’s campaign for Governor as his Deputy Field Director. Regional Director Janna Williams serves as the Regional Director. Janna is active in local politics and civic affairs. She is an Air Force Veteran, former Vice Chair of the Roselle Democratic Committee, and experienced field operative. Community Organizer Dr. Naima Ricks serves as a community organizer. She is a respected Union County leader, former Vice President of the Roselle Board of Education, and experienced civic leader. Outreach Coordinator Chris Bauknight serves as the campaign’s outreach coordinator. He is active in local politics, including the Young Democrats Organizer Matthew Messina serves as a campaign Organizer. He was previously the Data Director for Sara Sooy’s campaign for Congress in the Seventh District. O’Rourke has been endorsed by Rep. Ro Khanna, Former NJ Rep. Dr. Rush Holt, Rep. Chellie Pingree, and four local unions. She is building strong grassroots support throughout the district. About Dr. Megan O’Rourke Dr. Megan O’Rourke is running for Congress in New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District in the Democratic primary. Megan grew up in a family of six in Blairstown. She earned her Ph.D and raised a family while running a small farm before becoming a lead climate scientist at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). During her time with the USDA, Dr. O’Rourke was a labor leader and fought for workers' rights. Dr. O’Rourke left the federal government in the Summer of 2025 because she could not work for an administration that was taking America backwards on climate science and setting policies that raise costs and hurt working families.
