Menendez Calls Out Hugin for Lying to Voters on Health Care

Meanwhile, Hugin campaigns with architect of Obamacare repeal Tom MacArthur

New Brunswick, NJ – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez called out greedy, drug company CEO Bob Hugin for lying to the press in saying he would have voted against repealing the Affordable Care Act. Hugin was an early and ardent supporter of Trumpcare, which would strip coverage from millions of Americans and end protections for those with pre-existing conditions, even traveling to the White House to tout his approval.

Earlier today, Sen. Menendez was asked by WNBC news to respond to Hugin’s new assertion that he would have voted against the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, denying his long record as a Trump-Republican.

“He was with the President at the White House and said the President had great ideas on health care,” Sen. Menendez told WNBC. “Well, the President’s great ideas on health care was to repeal Obamacare. The President’s great ideas on health care is to fight in federal court to get the law that I helped pass declared unconstitutional.  The President’s great ideas on health care is to take away protections for pre-existing conditions.”

Hugin today campaigned in Ocean County with Rep. Tom MacArthur (NJ-03), who has largely been credited with resurrecting the GOP’s ACA repeal effort that passed the House but failed in the Senate by just one vote when John McCain famously gave his thumbs down.  It is clear that if Hugin is elected, he could be the deciding vote to take away health care from a million New Jerseyans and end protections for 3.8 million residents with pre-existing conditions.
