Michael Wildes Raises $50,000 in Fundraiser for Mayoral Re-Election

Guests included NJDSC Chairman  John Currie, Bergen County Chairman Lou Stellato, soon-to-be Bergen Chairman Paul Juliano and The Sopranos star Vincent Curatola

ENGLEWOOD, NJ– Mayor Michael Wildes held a fundraiser for his mayoral reelection Sunday at Casa Hispaniola Cigar Club that was attended by many of Bergen County’s foremost Democratic leaders. Mayor Wildes pulled in approximately $50,000 in contributions and commitments at the event, which was attended by New Jersey Democratic State Chairman John Currie, outgoing Bergen County Democratic Chairman Lou Stellato and Bergen County Democratic Chair candidate Paul Juliano. The event was headlined by Englewood native and actor Vincent Curatola, who memorably played Johnny Sack on The Sopranos.

“It is humbling and inspiring to see this kind of support from many neighbors in Englewood as well as friends from Bergen County and beyond,” said Mayor Wildes. “I ran for Mayor last year on a promise that I would work my hardest to Renew Englewood, and we are already starting to see signs of progress as our community begins to retake its place as the cultural, economic and political leader of Bergen County. The fellowship and support we received at this event from many of our state’s most vital Democratic leaders is proof positive that we are moving our city forward.”

The overflow crowd at the event also included Englewood’s Fourth Ward Councilman Wayne Hamer, former Councilmen Ken Rosenzweig and Doug Bern, Tenafly Councilman and Mayoral candidate Mark Zinna and LD37 District Vice Chair Zonie LeSane.

“I’ve always been a fan of pragmatism and leadership, and that’s what you get with Michael Wildes,” said Curatola, who was born and raised in Englewood. “We’re here for someone who does what he’s supposed to do, with no B.S.”

Wildes is currently is his third term as Mayor of Englewood after overwhelmingly winning the Democratic Primary in 2018 to return to public office after previously serving two terms on council and two terms as mayor from 1998 to 2010, before stepping down to focus on his family and immigration law firm, Wildes & Weinberg, P.C.

“We’re so proud of Michael and glad he came out to run again to continue serving his community,” said Chairman Currie. “Our Democratic party is a reflection of the people in this room and of what we all stand for, and I’m proud to stand with Michael Wildes and call him a friend.”

“We’ve had great successes because we bring everyone to the table,” said Chairman Stellato. “We’re a patch quilt of what America and what Bergen County is supposed to be. Englewood is on the right path and is going to great places because of good people like Michael.  There is a great difference between politicians and public servants.  If you’re a public servant, you do the right thing.  If you’re just a politician, you’re providing the wrong kind of service. Michael Wildes is a great public servant.”
