MIDDLESEX COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CHAIRMAN RESPONDS TO THE ONGOING INCIDENTS IN MINNEAPOLIS
EDISON, NJ — Over this weekend there was a horrific incident in Minneapolis in which an ICU nurse was killed by ICE agents while protesting. Below is a statement from Middlesex County Democratic Organization Chairman Kevin P. McCabe.
“What happened in Minnesota this week was a tragedy. ICE agents shot an American ten times despite clearly posing no threat to law enforcement, but merely exercising his first amendment rights. And then, despite clear video evidence, this administration's response was to try to convince us of things our eyes and ears clearly tell us are not true, and refuse to independently investigate the matter.

”A few things must happen immediately. First, there needs to be an independent investigation into the shooting, and justice must be served. In America, no one is above the law. Second, ICE agents must unmask and wear clear identification, the same as all law enforcement in our country. And third, they must withdraw from Minnesota, as local residents and elected officials have urged.

”All Democrats in Middlesex County, New Jersey, and beyond should stand firm and demand these actions now. The silence from those unwilling to take a stand will be deafening."
