Montgomery Democratic Organization Announces 2019 Montgomery Township Committee Candidates
The Montgomery Democratic Organization is pleased to announce the candidacies of Kent Huang and Devra Keenan for Montgomery Township Committee, who were screened and selected by a committee of the Montgomery Democratic Organization from a pool of qualified and inspired potential candidates.
Kent Huang, a resident of Montgomery Township since 2008, is running for a seat on the Montgomery Township Committee. Kent is the Chief Risk Officer and a Portfolio Manager at Mount Lucas Management LP, an alternative asset management firm. Kent has spent the past decade analyzing macro-economic trends—the result of changes occurring in society, in politics, and from advancements in science and technology. Managing financial and enterprise risk in this increasingly dynamic world requires an ability to think holistically, to act with transparency and inclusivity, to develop conclusions based on facts and data, and to adapt to new information. Kent understands the importance of fiscal prudence while continuing to innovate and plan for the future.
Kent graduated cum laude from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He is a CFA charterholder and a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), as well as a member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society New York and the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Kent resides in Belle Mead with his wife Mei, a Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacist with Penn Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers University. They are the proud parents of two boys, Cameron and Andrew.
As a candidate for Township Committee, Kent looks to bring his entrepreneurial mindset, fiscal discipline, and holistic approach to the issues that are most important to the Montgomery Township community. He aims to provide innovative and sustainable solutions that are fiscally sound and socially responsible. Kent believes politics should respect the past, consider the present and plan for the future: political policy and the leaders who craft it should be inclusive, transparent, and accountable. Kent looks forward to serving the Montgomery Township community.
Devra Keenan has lived in Montgomery for 21 years and is running for a seat on the Montgomery Township Committee. Devra made her professional mark in the corporate world by helping business people achieve their goals and accomplishments, as well as maximizing value for the organizations she was entrusted to guide. Prior to founding High Impact Advisors, a workforce innovation and coaching firm, she was a Corporate Vice-President overseeing Talent Acquisition and Recruiting Operations for the esteemed New York Life company.
Devra wants to bring her unique background, and the strategic, results-focused, solution-driven frameworks she honed in the business world to the place she and her family have called home for the past 21 years: Montgomery Township. A recent addition to the Economic Development Commission, she is committed to challenging the current approach to development and the reliance on retail-based growth by shifting the focus to smart, sustainable redevelopment centered around serving the needs of Montgomery’s residents today and tomorrow.
Devra grew up in a politically active family. Her mother was the first woman elected to the Planning and Zoning Board in Andover, Connecticut. From a young age Devra was always involved in campaigns. Whether is was stuffing bags with candidate information, licking envelopes, canvassing door- to-door, or painting lawn signs, Devra has worked hard to effect socio-political change from a young age.
Devra is a graduate of Brandeis University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in Anthropology. She holds various certifications in Human Resources, Coaching, and Innovation and Design Thinking. She lives with her husband Sergey, son Maxim, and dog Cooper in Skillman.
When it comes to her candidacy for Township Committee, Devra is a forward-thinking leader committed to bringing transparency, vision, and inclusive values to the Township Committee and the community. Devra believes in politics you can trust. She looks forward to serving the citizens of Montgomery Township.
