Morris County GOP Officially Wrap Up Historic 2021 Winning Election; Looking Ahead to 2022

PARSIPPANY, NJ – The Morris County Republican Committee (MCRC) capped off a historic election season with victories in two hotly contested municipalities – Parsippany and Chatham Township. The GOP sweep in those towns returns them to Republican control, announced MCRC Chairwoman Laura Marie Ali.

The Morris County Commissioner slate of Deborah Smith, John Krickus and Stephen Shaw beat their Democratic challengers by 20 percent, which is 16 percent higher than their victory margin in 2018. Additionally, the Republican legislative candidates in Districts 21, 24, 25, 26 and 40 have swept to significant victories, including Christian Barranco, a first-time legislative candidate in LD 26.

“The MCRC is thrilled to take back control in the county’s biggest town, Parsippany, and to regain control in Chatham Township”, said Ali.

In addition to those victories, the GOP elected eight new Republican members of councils or committees throughout the county, and retained control in all of the major Republican controlled municipalities. The Morris County Young Republicans on the ballot, Joseph Bock, Christina Kovacs and Justin Musella all won their respective races, leading the way for a new generation of successful Republican leadership.

The Republican triumphs are the first under the new bylaws initiated by Chairwoman Ali that established a Republican party line in Morris County. The MCRC overwhelmingly approved the county line designation in February. Ali, who has been MCRC Chair for 14 months, predicted that the party line designation would make the county organization more unified and energized by the inclusion of more people in the candidate selection process.

“For the first time in a long time, all major Morris County legislative and county commissioner campaigns operated out of our Morris County headquarters in Parsippany. This lent itself to remarkable teamwork, synergy and productivity.” said Chairwoman Ali.

Ali also credited the election results with the expert use of technology in the field, the movement of grass-roots volunteers, targeted social media and digital outreach and the investment in the local campaigns of municipal contested races.

“We are thankful to Jack Ciattarelli who energized the base by being a phenomenal, hardworking candidate for Governor. He ran a terrific campaign and mobilized a lot of people who are tired of being dictated to by Trenton and Washington. We will continue to reach out to those people and let them know that if we all work together, we can regain control of New Jersey and put this state on the right path. We are also thankful to the leadership of the NJ State Party Republican Chairman Bob Hugin who was very helpful in our success.”

“We sent a strong message on Election Day to all voters that the MCRC is ready to fight and win for what we believe is best for our communities,” added Ali. “What we believe in is not what Phil Murphy, Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi believe in. What we do believe in is a letting the people, not bureaucrats control their own destiny and that of their children,” said the chairwoman who is the mother three sons.

The chairwoman said the MCRC is now in great shape for the all-important 2022 House of Representatives elections next year and the legislative races in 2023.

“It is the job of all Republican leaders throughout the state to build on the momentum of Election Day and continue to fight back against the progressive’s, socialist ideology that has infected our state and national governments,” concluded Ali.
