Murphy for Governor Formally Files for Matching Funds
Campaign Tops $790,000 In Contributions Since June 7

Newark — The Murphy for Governor campaign this morning formally filed to participate in the Gubernatorial Matching Funds Program, submitting a total of $792,104.73 in contributions.

Should the full application be accepted, Murphy for Governor would receive more than $1,300,000 in matching funds. Under the program, the first $138,000 in contributions are not matchable. In all subsequent filings for matching funds, contributions to the campaign would be matched two-to-one, to a maximum of $9.3 million.

“We are starting our general election effort in a strong position and with tremendous momentum,” said Campaign Manager Brendan Gill. “We are committed to running a substantive campaign that highlights Phil’s plans for fixing our economy and growing our middle class, living up to our obligations, and making our state more fair and just. After nearly eight years of Chris Christie and Kim Guadagno putting personal agendas before the people’s business, New Jersey is ready for a change.”

By participating in the Gubernatorial Matching Funds Program, Murphy for Governor will abide by a spending cap of $13.8 million.
