Murphy statement on Lieutenant Governor Debate
Newark — Phil Murphy tonight released the following statement upon the conclusion of the lieutenant governor candidates’ debate:
“Sheila Oliver laid out the case for a positive change from the failed and unfair record of the Christie-Guadagno administration, while Carlos Rendo joined Guadagno in doubling-down on Christie’s policies, or tripling-down when we add in Donald Trump.
“There remained no daylight between what Christie and Guadagno did to make life tougher for most New Jersey families and the Guadagno-Rendo commitment to continuing in the same direction.
“Whether it is their tax policies that favor millionaires and big corporations, their unified opposition to new gun safety laws, their cuts to women’s health services, and failure to strengthen New Jersey’s economy, the Christie-Guadagno record is in direct contrast to my and Sheila’s commitment to reverse the Christie tax policies, fully fund public schools, enact new gun safety laws, fund Planned Parenthood, attack climate change, and build a stronger and fairer economy that works for every New Jersey family.”
