As a way to help businesses across the nation, President Biden on Monday signed the “Buy American” Executive Order strengthening requirements for the federal government to purchase products and services from U.S. businesses.
In the same vein, the N.J. Chamber launched its “Buy NJ” campaign last year to encourage companies and consumers to purchase their goods and services from New Jersey-based businesses, especially small businesses, as a way to help New Jersey’s recovery from the COVID-19 economic crisis.
The Chamber again encourages consumers to shop and dine at New Jersey establishments, and, when possible, patronize the state’s downtowns to support businesses there.
The N.J. Chamber further encourages business leaders, as they review vendor and supplier lists, to buy from New Jersey companies and especially remember to support minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned and LGBT-owned businesses in our state.
In 2019, there were more than 860,000 small businesses in New Jersey employing 1.8 million people — almost half of the private-sector workforce.
If our efforts to successfully reopen New Jersey’s economy are to succeed, small business must succeed. |
