NBJIA’s Buteas Named to Junior Achievement’s District Board
NJBIA Chief Government Affairs Officer Chrissy Buteas has joined the district board of Junior Achievement of New Jersey (JANJ), a nonprofit whose mission is to provide youngsters with the financial knowledge and life-skills needed for success.
Buteas, an Edison resident, has been appointed to JANJ’s North Board.
“It’s a great honor to serve in this role for Junior Achievement of New Jersey,” Buteas said. “I look forward to working with the JANJ board to build upon this organization’s great programs that inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.”
NJBIA President & CEO Michele Siekerka noted that NJBIA has been partnering with JANJ for years, including hosting an annual Career Success Workshop at NJBIA headquarters where NJBIA staff work with Trenton high school students throughout the day in hands-on activities that help prepare them for post-high school careers.
“NJBIA enjoys partnering with Junior Achievement and we are excited about Chrissy’s new role on the board working to advance the organization’s successful work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs,” Siekerka said. “Chrissy’s diverse background and leadership qualities make her a fantastic addition to the board.”
Before joining NJBIA on March 1, Buteas served as president and CEO of the Home Care & Hospice Association of New Jersey. She managed the operations of New Jersey’s leading trade association for Medicare-certified home health agencies, healthcare service firms, and hospice agencies.
She is also president of the Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to advancing women in government.
Buteas also served as vice president of the Capital Impact Group, a bipartisan public affairs and business development firm, for which she advocated on behalf of nonprofit organizations and Fortune 500 companies.
She is a former councilwoman of South Plainfield and served as a member of Gov. Phil Murphy’s Healthcare Transition Team. Buteas holds a B.A. in Law and Justice from Rowan University, and a Master of Public Administration from Rutgers University. She also served as a Raimondo Fellow at the Eagleton Institute of Politics.
