New Jersey Citizen Action statement on Governor Murphy signing multiple bills to help ease New Jersey’s home foreclosure crisis

New Jersey Citizen Action issued the following statement in response to a series of bills signed into law today by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy that will help ease New Jersey’s home foreclosure crisis.

“After many years of inaction we finally have a governor who is taking comprehensive steps and a multi-pronged approach to easing the economic and human devastation caused by home foreclosures here in New Jersey,”  said Beverly Brown Ruggia, Financial Justice Organizer for New Jersey Citizen Action. “This long overdue package of bills will help with fair and transparent mortgage lending and foreclosure proceedings and allow homeowners every opportunity to avoid foreclosure and save their homes. We have a lot more work to do, but we thank Governor Murphy and our State Legislature  for making into law many policies New Jersey housing counselors, advocates and legislators have been clamoring for since the foreclosure crisis began more than a decade ago.”
