New Jersey Main Street Alliance Statement in response to Governor Murphy’s appointment of New EDA Chair Kevin Quinn

Highland Park — New Jersey Main Street Alliance released the following statement today in response to Governor Murphy’s appointment of Kevin Quinn as the new Chairman of New Jersey’s Economic Development Authority.

“New leadership is needed to restructure the priorities of the Economic Development Authority,” said Raj Bath, Business Representative for New Jersey Main Street Alliance. “For nearly a decade we have seen policies implemented which only benefited large corporations while ignoring small business owners. We witnessed bad corporate actors take advantage of tax incentive programs while the EDA board looked the other way and small business owners struggled, and continue to struggle, with access to credit and capital. As a new chapter begins for the incoming chairman, we call on the rest of the board to resign to ensure that the same mistakes won’t be repeated. Small business is the backbone of our economy and New Jersey needs to invest in policies that allow them and the communities they do business in to thrive.”
