Gov. Murphy Signs Law to Modernize New Jersey’s Transportation Options
WASHINGTON – The Micromobility Coalition today issued the following statement after Governor Phil Murphy signed into law Senate Bill 731, authorizing the use of regulated low-speed electric bicycles and scooters in New Jersey.
“We are pleased to see overwhelming, bipartisan support in New Jersey to give commuters more transportation options, help ease congestion by replacing car trips, and establish a greener, environmentally sustainable system,” said Ryan McConaghy, executive director of The Micromobility Coalition. “E-scooters and e-bikes are ideal forms of transportation for people looking to safely and conveniently get from point A to point B – whether they’re traveling from their front door to the PATH, commuting to work, or exploring the beauty of the Shore.”
Senate Bill 731 had nearly unanimous support from state lawmakers, passing the Assembly with a vote of 76 to 0 and the Senate with a vote of 30 to 1.
